This month is all about challenging myself and tackling new subject matter. I’ve always wanted to do a self portrait, but my lack of experience painting people kept me from trying. Since having my kids, I’ve wanted to become a better portrait painter. What better way to practice than looking in the mirror! I so admire artists who paint people. Getting a likeness of a person is not an easy task, the proportions have to be spot on to get an accurate drawing. There’s also capturing somehow the persons character and personality. This was a huge challenge for me. I learned a great deal about my own perception of what I look like, compared to what I think I look like!
