New York has 100+ acres of Artic alpine plant communities mostly found the very top of the state’s highest peaks. Summit Stewards are helping safeguard this alpine habitat and remnants of the ice age. The deer’s hair sedge captured here, is an alpine plant that turns a beautiful golden color in the fall.
