Golden Tamaracks | 9×6” | pastel

I have thought of these tamarack trees on the shoreline near @nature.ny protected Boreas Ponds, since I saw them last year. Tamaracks are deciduous conifers that change colors and lose their needles in the autumn. They can tolerate a wide range of soil conditions but grow most commonly in swamps, bogs, and marshes in wet to moist organic soils.
