Winter Farm Moonrise

“Winter Farm Moonrise” | 12×24″ | Oil
Available

I’ve had this piece on my mind for about 3 years now. Well, here it is… finally! Just in time for the Agricultural Stewardship Association’s (ASA) annual fundraiser, Landscapes for Landsake.
A fundraiser to support local farmland conservation, the show features local artists whose work is inspired by the region’s working landscapes. It takes place in the historic barn at Maple Ridge, 172 State Route 372 in the hamlet of Coila, just west of the Village of Cambridge. The show opens on Saturday, October 8th from 12 to 5 p.m. with a wine and cheese reception. Admission is $5 per person. The gallery is also open from noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday and Monday free of charge.

A portion of all sales will be donated to help support the ongoing efforts of the organization.

Until next time…

Available.

We welcome Autumn a few days ago, and I am so happy. This time of year is especially beautiful in the Northeast. The foliage puts on a grand show before resting for the long winter days to come.

Here’s an image comparison of this same pastel taken in two different kinds of light. On the left incandescent, and on the right natural morning light. Interesting how light source changes everything.

Inspired by the full moon rising over the lake a few days ago. Pale as can be, she was barely there yet ever present.

I picked up my paintings from the gallery today. I’m happy to report that 17 works of art have found new homes. The show was an all around success, and I am grateful for the wonderful feedback, support and well wishes. Michelle LaLonde of Mimosa and her team did an excellent job of connecting my work with wonderful people. I am honored.

I spent the evening reading through some of the comments left in the guest book, and got a little teary eyed. These little notes are so special to me. As an artist, I really want others to see the world more beautifully, so I am pleased when that connection is made. Thank you all for for sharing your thoughts with me.

Here’s what this painting could look like framed:

Hi there! It’s been a while, I know. I’ve missed you all!
Life has been, well… lively. It felt so amazing to be back at the easel, especially playing with oils. I just love the smell of linseed oil.

I’ve been invited to exhibit at this year’s Saratoga Arts Fest, so that has been great motivation to complete some new work. I’m pretty excited about the group show. I hope to have 8 – 12 news pieces for the curator to choose from. Working small this time around, I think it’s totally doable.

My studio is still “in transition”, so I set up this little cigar box easel on the kitchen table and got to work.

Cute, eh? It reminded me of the old days when my studio was in the corner of our apartment’s living room. Good times!
