Day 29 of the Thirty Paintings in Thirty Days challenge!

Thank you all for joining me on this journey. I am so pleased to have been able to create an original piece of art every day during this challenge. It wasn’t easy, but somehow (thanks to your encouragement and a lots of coffee) I found the energy and inspiration to get to work. I will take a break tomorrow, but February starts another challenge (Creative February!!). More about that soon.

Now, I would like to challenge all of you to take some time each day (or most days) to do something creative. Honor your passion, whether it’s painting, writing, drawing, knitting, macrame… Trust me, you’ll be happy you did.

Until next time…

Fall Marsh: Day 24

I had a great time in my Color Harmonies workshop at Saratoga Arts yesterday. I woke up feeling a bit under the weather, but a little cold medicine took care of that, and I was off. I was looking forward to seeing my students, and actually painting during the day instead of just before midnight! Ha!

Many thanks to Donna, Jane, Lynn, Pam, Andrea, and Rita for joining me! They all produced great work, however I forgot to take pics.

This was my second demo that I finished up this morning. It’s an example of a orange/blue complementary color scheme.

Today, day 5 of the “Thirty Paintings in Thirty Days” Art Challenge, we visit the creek near my house. It was so beautiful in this morning’s light.

Here’s a quick slideshow of my process:

I have to admit that this one was a struggle for me. They don’t all just paint themselves, you know! I am happy with where it is… I think I’ve said all I can for this moment. I probably will tackle the composition again in the future.

Here’s my pastel for Day 4 of the 30in30 (30 Paintings in 30 Days) Art Challenge. I loved the way the cloud pattern in the sky mimicked rows of corn in a farm field.

This painting challenge has effectively shown me how to more more efficient with my work. I am finding that preparation is key, and also lots of coffee and tea ;-).

I’ll share what I’m learning in depth with a future post.

Until next time…
