Small Scale Painting Workshop Recap

“Juicy” approx. 4×5″ pastel

My Small Scale Painting workshop at Saratoga Arts yesterday was great! I was joined by 6 fun, and talented artists; Anne, Donna, Deane, Nancy, Lynn, and Maria. Thank you, ladies for spending the day with me. As usual, the time flew by and we were at the end of the workshop before we knew it. The pastel above was my morning demo.

Here are a few more pictures of the group busy with their timed studies:

Here they’re working on their final piece for the day:

Critique time… I am so proud of not only the quantity, but the quality of the work produced.

Lynn discusses her pieces.

Overall, the day was great fun! I met 5 new artists, and we spent the day creating, laughing, chatting, and getting messy. Not a bad way to spend a Sunday!

Until next time…

Creative February
I’ve given myself the “Gift of Time to Create Art” every day for my birthday month of February. YAY! Happy Birthday to me! All these paintings/pastels are available to purchase. They will be shown along with the work completed this month by my Birthday Buddy, Kate Edwards at Spring Street Gallery in Saratoga Springs, NY mid-March through mid-April. If you are interested in purchasing/reserving any of the work, you may do so at any time. Please feel free to email me with any questions or comments.

Until next time…

Super Bowl of Cherries

2/1/15 | Super Bowl of Cherries | 7×12″ | Pastel

It’s February, and you know what that means… It’s my Birthday Month! You may remember last year I decided to give myself “the gift of time” to create art every day for my birthday month. My Birthday Buddy, and fellow artist Kate Edwards joined me as well. The resulting work was featured in an exhibition titled “EVERYDAY” at Spring Street Gallery in Saratoga Springs, NY . It was a great experience for me – Challenging, but rewarding to honor my art in this way. We’re going for it again with the goal of posting a new work each day for the month of February.

This little still life is the first of the month. Done on Super Bowl Sunday. I was inspired by my “Color Harmonies” workshop the day before at Saratoga Arts. I’ll post more on that tomorrow.

Here’s my still life set up after… It’s a good thing I was done at this point because a little person decided to help himself to a tasty snack!

Until next time…

Tulips and Tangerines

Now here’s something different for me – a still life!

These beautiful tulips looked so pretty in my leaf vase. I added a few tangerines and, viola! – a nice still life set-up that had to be painted! It felt good going out of my comfort landscape zone to try this. I would like to do that more often.

Until next time…
