Morning on the Battenkill | 9×12″ | pastel
The Battenkill river runs from Vermont through New York, where it eventually flows into the Hudson River near Schuylerville, NY. I can now fondly recall my first encounter with the river – an eventful canoe trip with my family many years ago. We encountered some rapids, and had to steer for the shoreline before narrowly missing a little white water drop! Our eldest, who was about seven years old at the time yelled “That was fun! Let’s do it again!”. On the other hand, I think the adults gained several gray hairs that day!
Contrary to that boisterous trip, this piece captures a peaceful morning on the river. It is currently available at my solo show: “Catching the Light” in Salem, NY. I am looking forward to opening reception this Friday, 3/9 from 5 – 8 PM. If you are local, I would love to see you there.
Until next time…
