A little still life painted from direct observation in afternoon light. I think as an artist, it is so important to work from life. By doing so, you are training your eyes and brain to really *see* not only the pear, but how the light interacts with the pear and its surroundings. That golden pear also picks up the blues from the background, it reflects the light from the blue/grey surface, and the shadows have a tint of violet (yellows complementary color of the yellow). You train your brain to paint what you actually see, not what you *think* a pear looks like.
